The 205 Collishaw Squadron gathered at the Nanaimo Flying Club at the Nanaimo Airport to hold their Annual Ceremonial Review (ACR) on Sunday, June 2, to commemorate and honor their accomplishments from the past year. Despite the unyielding rain, the ACR provided an invaluable platform for our cadets to showcase their acquired skills and cultivate leadership and teamwork. This year’s ACR, characterized by the inclement weather, will be etched in our memories as a demonstration of the cadets’ exceptional perseverance and strength.
“Every cadet at 2024 ACR should receive an umbrella pin to show their perseverance and that they survived the heavy rain!” Captain Morgan stated.
The wind was so strong that it was difficult for the cadets to keep their eyes open due to the rain on their faces. The challenging weather tested the cadets’ dedication, but no one gave up. Following the event, St. John’s Ambulance paramedics checked the cadets for symptoms of hypothermia and frostbite as their hands had become icy cold after standing in the rain for two hours. The cadets’ incredible motivation and inspiration in the face of challenges was truly commendable. The event was a true reflection of the cadets’ outstanding discipline and dedication.
Captain Ruel commented, “Amazing job by all the cadets for weathering the elements. This is the first ACR in the past 7 years I have been with the Squadron where we have had rain. I want to congratulate all the award winners. Bravo Zulu, your work and commitment shines through in those accomplishments. Thank you to all the staff and SSC for making this another successful training year”. Well done, Cadets!!
Your perseverance in the face of the horrendous weather was truly admirable. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff and SSC, especially Captain Ruel and Allison Haapala, whose unwavering dedication, meticulous planning, and support made this year’s ACR event a resounding success. And to the families, thank you for the delightful cupcakes and continuous support. You are the backbone of the squadron! Congratulations to 205 Collishaw for completing another successful year!
